Friends Scholarship
The Friends Scholarship assists students in good academic standing who face a unique financial need. The support provided by the Friends Scholarship will help students move beyond personal hardships such as death of a parent or extended illness. The scholarship is open to all state university students, regardless of major or year of study.
Irja Sundgren Pratt Memorial Scholarship Fund
As a graduate of Eveleth Community College (now known as Mesabi Range Community and Technical College), Irja Sundgren Pratt had a sincere commitment to higher education. The Irja Sundgren Pratt Memorial Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to students interested in attending one of the five two-year institutions within the Northeast Higher Education District on the Iron Range: Mesabi Range Community and Technical College, Hibbing Community College, Itasca Community College, Rainy River Community College and Vermillion Community College.
John Kenneth Niemi Memorial Fund
As a recipient of a technical college education and the training that enabled his career as a millwright and later as a refrigeration mechanic, John Niemi understood the value of technical education. Established by the Niemi family, the John Kenneth Niemi Memorial Fund will provide funds for tool purchases for students who are interested in attending one of the technical colleges or technical programs within the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.
Midwave Scholarships in Information Technology Excellence and Career Development
Midwave Scholarships in Information Technology Excellence and Career Development are awarded to Minnesota State Colleges and Universities students who intend to pursue a career in the high-tech industry in Minnesota. Requirements for the award include completion of 12 credits toward a declared major or in a certificate program, a 3.0 GPA and a written essay. Midwave Corporation, sponsor of the scholarships and one of the region's fastest growing technology solutions companies, is invested in helping the Minnesota business climate by assisting students in related study programs. The Foundation awards Midwave Scholarships annually for both spring and fall semesters.
Morrie Anderson Scholarship Fund
Named in honor of the former chancellor of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, the Morrie Anderson Scholarship Fund was created to demonstrate the system's commitment to technical education and to provide needed financial support to students attending our technical colleges. The Anderson Scholarship is open to students in all program areas and years of study.
Pegues Scholarship Matching Program
Established in honor of Elizabeth Pegues, a long-time supporter of public higher education, the Scholarship Matching Program provides additional support to students who have received a scholarship from a Minnesota-based civic, religious, fraternal, social or nonprofit youth-serving organization. Applicants to the Scholarship Matching Program must be graduating high school seniors or graduates of any Minnesota state university.
Robert Erickson Part-Time Student Scholarship
The Robert Erickson Part-Time Student Scholarship provides financial support to non-traditional, part-time students. This scholarship fund reflects the commitment of its benefactor, Trustee Emeritus Robert Erickson, who uses his annual bicycle ride to all 53 campuses within the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system as a vehicle to raise both awareness of and funds for non-traditional, part-time students.
Robert L. Carothers Distinguished Student Writers Award
Named in honor of the former chancellor of the Minnesota State University system, the Robert L. Carothers Distinguished Student Writers Award recognizes and rewards students who demonstrate an interest in and a talent for writing. Based primarily on aptitude, the Carothers Award is open to all state university students, regardless of major, year of study or financial need.
