Matt DeRusha: Having a great career thanks to scholarships

For Matt DeRusha, a Winona State University honors graduate, supporting his family is the number-one priority.
"That's the most important thing in the world to me," says DeRusha, who married in 2005 shortly after graduation.
Armed with a bachelor's degree in management information systems, Matt landed a job as a business analyst at Cargill, Inc., an opportunity he feels was enabled by the support he received from the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Foundation. Scholarships made it possible for Matt to work less and study more. He estimates that without scholarships, married life would have started with a 50 percent higher debt load.
"The scholarships were an amazing help, and I will appreciate them forever."
