Bau Vue: The Science of Overcoming Adversity
Metropolitan State University
Class of 2005
Bau Vue is the first to say she had a troubled youth: married at 15; a mother at 16; divorced at 22; remarried at 22. Now 27 and the mother of four, Bau still has her hands full, but she also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and a position with Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution. Without scholarships, Bau feels she would never have completed a degree program.
"A degree would have been financially unattainable," Bau explained. "At a time when I felt helpless and hopeless, when I felt like there was no support around me, and everyone close to me gave up on me, I used the positive energy I received from scholarships from the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Foundation and other programs to overcome adversity."
